Urban Legends?

Today I want to talk about Urban Legends. Legends Urbana...[hmm...]. One Urban Legend that caught my eye, was the one about people actually being buried alive.

What?

Yes. According to this site--> http://www.snopes.com, people have actually been buried alive.

In the late 16th Century [1500's], Mathew Wall was being buried in England. So, what had happened, was that one of the pallbearers tripped, causing the other to trip. They dropped the coffin and Mathew was discovered to be alive. But...

In 1595, a couple of years after the "almost died in ground" incident happened, Mathew Wall actually died. Though, since the life expectancy during that time was not long...

Another one is that drug addicts leave their HIV infected needles in the coin slots of payphones.

Really?

Really?

No!

Well, according to Snopes, there were two emails/internet notices about these situations. One from, an anonymous source stating that a "friend" of his/hers, who is an EMT, was notified by the phone company that drug addicts who were HIV positive or hard AIDS were putting their needles in public phones. Ok, first off, why would someone do that? [I could think of a few].

Another one, provided by the World Health Organization. It states that in Montreal, someone in a movie theater sat on something sharp. When the looked to see what it was, there was a note stating, "You have just been infected with AIDS."

Ok, obviously, these are false. I mean, I'm sure that this could  happen, but has it? I doubt it/would hope not. Well, according to snopes, they're all false. If they were true, there'd be an uproar, unless the gov't would have had everything censored. Eh...

One that really depresses me, is from a site that's not Snopes. It basically says that  there was a woman, who on the 26th of October [couple days before Halloween] had killed herself by hanging herself from a tree. Passerbyers did not do anything for a while because they thought that she was part of a display, but she wasnt. She had killed herself. Did this really happen?

Yes.

In 2005, in Delaware, a 42 year old woman actually did this. The police treated it as a suicide.

Some Urban Legends are scary, silly or just plain sad.

Why is it so hard to make friends with guys? Asked By: blink0o0

A: What's different about this question is that I usually hear girls say: "Why is it so hard to make friends with girls?" Making friends with the opposite gender can be looked upon as easy or hard depending on how you view friendships. Some girls get along better with guys, while some girls get along better with other girls naturally. If you want to make friends with guys, try to start making male friends in similar ways that you would with females. Of course, if you do find a guy pal, you are going to have a few road blocks. Road blocks that you wouldn't have with girls; talking about personal stuff, for example. Also, this is not always the case, but in time, you and your guy friend might end up considering a relationship. I have always been against dating people who I've considered friends first, because that just does not work, for me personally, but for some girls it does.
Anyway, as for a friendship, find a guy who you actually enjoy being around. Someone who doesn't see you as an easy target to hook up with. Start small by talking about everyday things and don't be afraid to be funny and/or silly. Guys like that in their friends...usually. Over time you'll realize that making male friends isn't that tough for any girl. (Yes, any girl)

Kimora Lee: Fired From Her Own Company?

So, earlier this week, there were reports that Kimora Lee Simmons, the woman (with the help of her Ex-Husband Russel) who started the BabyPhat clothing line had decided to quit and leave the company. Now there is a new report coming out, stating that she did not willingly leave, but she was cut loose!

According to the NYPOST, the company left this statement"Kimora was going over-budget. She'd pay herself a fee to be in the ads, plus she paid her children fees to appear in ads. It costs thousands of dollars to airbrush her because she's a size 10. Plus, they spent a ton of money on body doubles. They would shoot another model in the clothes, and take Kimora's head and put in on her body."

It's semi-sad when you think about. She had come so far, and now, what will she do? She still seems to have her television show Life In The Fab Lane, but without the glamor and "fabulosity" of Babyphat, how will it survive?
